About the Lab

Are you looking to expand your skills in cost estimating, budgeting and control strategies for Shutdowns & Turnarounds?

Join Elmer Sachteleben, the Head of Cost Engineering Academy, and Jos van der Stelt, Senior TA Project Expert, on 24 March as they walk you through the best practices and strategies for shutdowns and turnarounds.

The instructors will teach you about advanced estimating methods, give you hands-on insights for TA project control and change management, how to improve processes of today’s challenging TAs, and much more. The Academy Lab is an interactive session: you’ll have the opportunity to practice the explained theory via cases and exercises and ask your questions to the instructors.

We’ll also cover a short demo on how to perform cost estimation and controls with digital technologies.

This Lab is ideal for those who have a basic understanding of projects, maintenance or turnarounds, and  want to learn more about cost estimating, budgeting and controls of TAs.

About the Instructors

Elmer Sachteleben is an experienced Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) holding an MSC in applied physics. After providing consultancy services to major companies, Elmer now leads Cost Engineering Academy.

He applies his broad experience and enthusiasm to provide traineeships, develop courses and organize workshops in the field of project controls and turnarounds. He is also a teacher at the Dutch Association of Cost Engineers (DACE) and a frequent speaker at industry events.

Elmer has provided consulting services in process assessment, development, and implementation to major multinational companies such as Shell, Unilever, Bayer, Cargill, CB&I, Mott MacDonald, Heineken, Vopak, Enbridge, Yara, and Rijkswaterstaat.

Jos van der Stelt is the Director of Professional Services and Senior TA Project Expert at Cost Engineering Consultancy. Jos applies his knowledge and experience in Turnarounds and Project Controls to advise companies that face challenges with turnaround cost management and digitalization of TA processes.

He also coordinates the group of Cost Engineering Consultants currently working at Shell, Bayer, Cargill, Heineken, Neste, OMV, Vopak, Boskalis, Maasvlakte Oil Terminal and Qirion. Jos works with the consultants on their personal growth, to develop their strengths and potential.
